Black Bean Burgers

Here is what you will need!

RECIPE:
Yields 4 patties

Ingredients:
2 cans black beans, rinsed and drained
1 onion, minced
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 carrots, shredded
1/2 cup quick oats
1 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp cumin1/2 tsp coriander1/2 tsp chili powder1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:
Heat one tablespoon of olive oil in a pan. Combine onions, garlic, salt, and pepper and cook until onions are translucent. Add carrots, cumin, coriander, chili powder, and cayenne pepper until carrots are tender. Remove pan from heat.
In a bowl, mash the beans and then add the contents of the pan along with the soy sauce and quick oats. Mix and form four patties. Place in freezer for 30 minutes to set. Cook patties on a pan coated in cooking spray over medium heat, flipping halfway. Use patties to create your dream veggie burger.

I used a tin of mixed bean salad and a tin of butter beans instead. I added onion chutney and cheese in the bun too. Made enough for six burgers so have frozen what we didn't use for another day. Great recipe and totally delicious.

I tried this recipe and it was great but I changed it a little bit, I grated raw beatroot into the beans instead of carrot and i used kidney beans not black beans, it really tastes awesome ! 🙂

This recipe, as-is doesn't work well. First, there isn't enough of a binder. They just turn to mush on the first bite.

Second, the patties are WAY too thick.

If you can tolerate it, add an egg for a binder and make the patties about half the thickness you see.
