I tried this recipe with a small change:
Roll the falafel balls in breadcrumbs, and deep fry instead of baking. Perfect!

I’m confused. Why wouldn’t you simply use chickpeas instead of baked beans in this recipe? I mean, you’re using besan, chickpea flour, so it’s not an allergy thing, and I assume the cook who keeps besan in their pantry would also have dried/canned chickpeas, favas, or any other unflavored legumes on their shelves as well. I guess it’s a decent recipe, and I love her energy and presentation, but I’m not really understanding why anyone would make falafel this way.
