Yea I don’t like seafood but I like to try the vegan versions.
So true, I just found out im allergic to crabs, after I’ve been eating them all my life. Allergy testing came back positive, and now i gotta carry an epipen. Im struggling because i want some so bad 🤦🏽♀️
@RB button mushrooms r a good substitute texture wise. if u put them n ur standard crabcake recipe u wont notice the difference
Noelle W. ditto. My results showed how severely allergic I now am to most things that I used to eat. I carry an epipen, too, but prefer to prepare +|- eat most meals at Home. My love of cooking (w/new recipes) has made the transition easy

I think your talking about clams, oysters, and muscles right? We know they don’t experience pain because they don’t have a center nervous system. Or at least we know they don’t experience pain like we do. I sometimes wonder if they are more of a strange plant sort of thing and I know there are vegans who eat them…im not sure how I feel about because there isn’t enough info but I never liked any of that to begin with lol

Lol I think you would like these because they don’t have the chewy slimy texture of calamari but they do taste like the ocean and they have that popcorn shrimp feel to them.

VeraDonna yea that was addressed in the comments several times, lol I guess it was taboo to make a mistake several months ago. Thing is i watch several cooking YouTube videos at night and sometimes I just comment not really paying much attention just to give a perspective like everyone. I support her and her videos even though I’m not vegan, I do vegan fasts at times like once every three or four months for 30 days or a month and a one week water fast every 4-5 weeks.
There is vegan “fish” sauce everyone! Available at any Asian store. Can we stop crucifying the poor man now?

When the video popped up on my feed, I already knew I had to subscribe to your channel- which I did- and so far I am not regretting it! Calamari was my fav dish when I was still eating meat. Now that I am vegetarian and seem to be slowly heading to vegan life, I want to know if I can have some of my fav dishes in a vegan version. Now I’m happy! most of all I’m thankful, thank you
I’m gonna be honest when I was making them I tried the heart of palm on it’s own & spit it out & told my mom theres no point in making it. She said give it a try, and I’m glad I did! It tastes friggin amazing! I suggest using the breadcrumbs they use in fried shrimps it tastes so much better! Thank you girl!!
Lol good! The panko bread crumbs are the one that the recipe calls for..those are the shrimp battering ones😊
How’s the texture
I just finished making it and it was bomb. I used fish fry seasoning with flour, water, paprika, and adobe. Tasted great, dipped it in hot sauce lol
Soak the hearts of palm in lemon juice or vinegar to get that chewyy calamari texture also leave in the center for a fried scallops effect

@نور I use two lemons first i drain the can slice the hearts to desired thickness pat dry squeeze to fresh lemons put into a sealable container or Ziploc bag overnight I make sure to stir or flip over the Ziploc then I place them on a wire rack in the fridge and let them air dry season and cook how you like also works well in a meatless paella enjoy

You can also add flaxseed oil to the batter for fish flavor! 🐟 I use flaxseed oil for sushi, fish, etc.. it approximates fish flavor nicely ☺️
Don’t do this. It made my hearts waaayy too tart! They are fine just how they are. Just be careful when battering so they don’t break apart
