Palak Paneer used to be one of my favorite Indian recipes, so obviously I had to veganize it ๐ My version is just as indulgent and delicious as the classic but 100% vegan and wholesome.

What Indian recipe should I veganize next?
Dahl tadka
@Salsifi isnโt baingan bharta already vegan?
โLambโ Spinach Curry. Like Lamb Saag. Maybe with jackfruit to have the โmeatinessโ ๐ฒ I might just experiment but doesnt always work out ๐ฌ
@Natalie Clarke Yes! I love sweet pea and potato samosas at the restaurant. I have not eaten in yrs from gluten intolerance but I am sure there could be a way to have gluten free option ๐?
Tikka Masala pleaseeeeeeeeeeee!
I was too intimated to cook Indian food before I found you! Now we regularly make your chana masala and sweet potato dal from your cookbook! Thank you for another delicious looking Indian recipe we can look forward to.
Thatโs such wonderful feedback! Thank you for letting me know Victoria!
the little Nisha cartoon that popped up when you said โPopeyeโ made me laugh out loud. I love the mix of humor and useful cooking tips in your videos!
Hehe thanks Jeanie! Iโm so happy you love the combo ๐

Hotel? Trivago.
@cosmicseaa
Too ignorant understand the nutritional value of the food in the video โ check!
Exposing how angry, spiteful and envious he is of Vegans because theyโre way happier and healthier than him by spending his spare time leaving pissweak negative comments on videos his subconscious wished he could live up to โ check!
Too addicted to shitty foods that will clog his arteries, develop cancer and cause type-2 diabetes to appreciate food that was actually meant for us โ check!
Looks like you tick all the wrong boxes. ๐
Have a nice day!! ๐
I love to watch you cook, the humour is great, thank you for brightening up my evening sweetie ๐๐๐ฑ๐
Aww I appreciate that so much. I am so happy I can brighten up your evening!
Indian food is my fav! So much is already vegan and the taste is out of this world๐ฏ
Yes! I love how much vegan or vegan-friendly variety there is in Indian cuisine too ๐ And the flavors, sooo good!
Yasss!! That looks so good. Totally making this for dinner. Thank you!!
So nice to hear that, Jason! happy cooking!
Gurl, I donโt usually laugh at others, but when you were giving us all the calm spa feels then dropped that pot, you made me laugh out loud. Your olโcrap face was priceless!!!
Lol iโm glad it made you laugh. It was really startling! Itโs a heavy pot lol.
Indian food ๐ฅ is the best โaccidentally veganโ food on the planet ๐๐
The recipes here are pretty intentionally vegan. Indians use ghee which is dairy in everything. Accidentally vegetarian, yes.
@Annushka Mehta I love Indian food too, but pretty much everything has dairy in it. I wish there was more you could get at restaurants that are vegan. I tend to just veganize everything myself at home.
Its not accidental. Indian food is deeply intertwined with Indian school of teaching
Hinduism, Jainism, Buddism, Sikhism and several other branches of these teachings.
For people who are aiming at higher knowledge, Enlightenment etc should pursue Satvic diet.
The food is classified as:
Satvic Food (which omit all non veg, Onion and Garlic)
Rajasic Food ( include onion garlic and Extreme spice quantities but exclude non veg food)
Tamasic Food (includes non veg)
Also it prescribes time for eating food and it should be in sync with the sun, it is said our digestive fire is in sync with sun and around 12 pm our digestive fire will be at maximum
So
Breakfast : around 7am (quantity should be medium
Lunch : around 11am (if someone has any cravings this is the time to let loose, only time to fill your stomach if you need to)
Dinner : before 6pm (eat less)
It also suggest to eat food which is grown in your locality of 3 to 10km somehing like that, also food should be taken within 4 hr after cooking. There is also food which shouldnโt be taken together with other food and combinations etc.
This is the basic way of Indian cultural food system, there is way more if you dive in to Ayurveda and Yoga.
Indian recipes depend immensely on ghee, paneer, and yoghurt gravy. And then you wash it down with lassi. If anything is โaccidentally veganโ, itโs the Macrobiotic version of pre-industrial Japanese foodโminus all the fish products. Japanese people never developed dairy tolerance.
Most Indian vegetarian food is not vegan as it heavily relies on dairy products โ but it can be made vegan easily.
You made my Alexa say โI always know what you are saying but canโt do everything you askโ haha
LOL that made me laugh out loud. Every time I was editing this section of the video, my Alexa would light up. And Iโm like, โOh, now you can hear me???โ
she didnโt ask alexia very nicely and itโs not nice to say to everyone she hates her.
Mine came back with โI understand most of what Iโm asked but Iโm always learning!โ made me feel guilty :โ)
Watched the video and immediately made it. I added kale since I didnโt have too much spinach and it was super delicious!
Awesome! I havenโt seen somebody mention boiling tofu since a recipe I had probably about 20 years ago when I made a vegan lasagna that required me to boiled and mashed tofu and then wring it out in a towel. Itโs amazing how firm it got as a baked!
Yes, exactly! Itโs such a fun little trick and really improves the texture. Thanks Johanna!
Omg, ty! This was one of the first Indian dishes I ever tried. And ๐ it. This is a must try.
This is great info. Love it. Thanks for blessing everyoneโs life with healthy recipes ๐๐ผ
Here we gooooooooooo!!!!
Didnโt expect to see you here.
I was sceptical at the beginning, but OMG this is the best thing Iโve cooked in a while. Thank you so much
So happy you loved it so much, Sade! Thanks for sharing ๐
Lovely recipe. I made it last night. Just one tip, add some pine nuts while blending the spinach . It was so good.
Ooh, I am intrigued! Will need to restock on pine nuts to try this ๐
I have to tell you, when you were talking to Alexa, my Alexa responded ๐ ๐ ๐ ๐
I tried to make a paneer substitute out of tofu before. I boiled the tofu in a mixture of almond milk and soy cream. It was great! It gave it that delicious creamy, milky flavour.
Greetings from Germany!
Ooh that sounds SO GOOD! We typically donโt get soy cream here in the US, but Iโll try it with something similar. Thanks for the idea!
U can also substitute potato ๐ฅ for paneer in this indian spinach dish !
@enve.everything That would make it aloo palak and thatโs a totally different dish.
@saggitbow How is it totally different to make one substitution?
@Viking Lord because you canโt add aloo in place of paneer and still call it palak paneer. Aloo palak and palak paneer are 2 different dishes in any Indian restaurantโs menu. Go check it out.
I made this recipe Friday night for Saturday, and it was wonderful! So flavorful, I used frozen spinach that I let defrost and used the boiled tofu method that I added to the sauce a few minutes before serving. I skipped on the coconut milk because we liked the flavor as it was, and surprisingly it was pretty creamy even without it. I didnโt have any fresh cilantro but am sure that would have made it even tastier. Last week after trying her red lentil curry I thought it would be hard to find a recipe that topped that, and although very different in flavor, this recipe might be even better in my opinion. I hope to try adding mint to this recipe sometime to hopefully mimic one of our local Indian restaurants take. Excellent recipe๐ !!!
I cooked this for my mom and me today and we both loved it! So incredibly easy, light and tasty ๐ greetings from Germany
