Wrong way of making dal not dhal.
This looks gross. Sesame oil? No Cumin seed? No tomato? Cooking the lentils in the onion jam mixture?
How do u eat dhal? With a spoon?

I don't think sesame oil is very good for frying: it gives a very bitter taste when it burns and it burns very easily.
That is not how you should make dhal curry
